We are our own nightmare.
Brother Tunde came back today from one of his numerous interviews in one of the big companies and was feeling dejected, rejected and troubled. He needn't told me about his travail because I could sense it from afar. He complained bitterly that his step mum must be behind his misfortune.
Hmm! That got me thinking. When have we given the man in black the wheel of our lives to toil as he or she so wishes? When have we handed our fate to the blind and we followed suit like fools being lead to the farmer's snare? Then all we could ever think of doing is that we could do nothing while folding our hands and watch as things unfold. I refuse to believe this archaic view of one man over there sitting upon your destiny. Destiny is divine and it is individually embedded in each and every one of us regardless of colour, age or race. I refuse to belong to those that belief that the reason they are not there yet is because of some one down there had manipulated their chances of success.
We are our own nightmare when we fail to see the limitless opportunities that abound around us. We are our own nightmare when all we do is just to sit there in the comfort of our homes and expect mannar to fall from heaven.
We grow up with these believe that there is someone out there in the village that has tied our destiny hence we cannot make a breakthrough in our chosen fields.
We even believed this whole heartedly that each time we tried and failed was as a result of that man in black.
We held on to this knowledge so much that it becomes a daunting task to think outside the box.
We lived in the shadows of our past and the memories hunt us days and nights.
We had sleepless nights and stressful days thinking that the man in black is the neighbor next door.
We even can't take a step further when it's obvious that we are not going any bit farther.
We've let this belief slowly crawled through our minds and our hearts are now receptive to challenges that could have taken us a step ahead.
Now I ain't saying you should hate on yourself, but all what am saying is that the key to your success is in your hands.
Quit apportioning blames for your woes.
Quit saying that you can't do it.
Quit holding on to this mediocre view that everybody is up against you.
I know that times are difficult and conditions are not favourable but we shouldn't be boxed into the walls of limitations less fear and impossibilities rears its ugly head on our path to success.
What more can be harmful and injurious when we fail to believe in ourselves? We established this wall of restriction and our fates are left to rot. We even go as far as pointing accusing fingers and using demeaning words on our neighbors when what we seek for never did come by.
I mean, what more can be so malevolent as living in this charade of self denial? We put on this pretentious look each time we are together when vivdly, we abhor so much hatred and hostility when we are just few miles away from each other. Why have we chosen to thread this path of self deceit when we should focuse more on self discovery and then claimed that all is well? We are being blinded by our traditional and religious beliefs that to seek for self liberation becomes an effort in futility.
This is 21 century where millions are being transformed when they have figured out what works for them. The day you start living is the day you start dropping those ideas of the man in black. You accept all responsibilities for your actions and then plan ahead. You have submitted several letters, graced so many interviews, ventured into so many businesses, yet, you are not there yet. This should not be a barrier to how far you can go. You may not be there yet does not mean you should stop walking. The man in black is an imaginary being that have come to stay and clothe our lives with clouds of pessimism. We gave room to it and it sits comfortably creating this rots of fear, self denial, fettish beliefs.... and we go on accepting anything life throws at us.
We have to realise that we are the sole architect of our own destinies and not even a single man possesses the very tiniest bit of it. We must realise that no one will push us to success unless we take the first step. What works for me might not work for you but we should all strive to grab opportunities and be opened to learning.
I cannot say more than this but I know I have said enough that the man in black is the fallacious notion we have come to accept as true to the detriment of our own realities.
Have you been living in self denial or know someone who does? Please let's have your thought.
